Aqua-Hot Repair & Service - Certified Service Center | Missouri
Your Aqua-Hot hydronic heating system isn't something most RV shops can fix. These diesel-fired heating systems require specialized training, diagnostic tools, and hands-on experience that general RV technicians don't have. 3R RV Service Center is Aqua-Hot Certified to service all models - and we've been doing it for over 20 years.
Why Your Aqua-Hot Needs Professional Service:
Aqua-Hot systems are not standard RV appliances. They integrate a diesel or propane burner, boiler tank, heat exchanger, coolant loops, circulation pumps, zone valves, and electronic controls into one complex unit. When serviced incorrectly - or neglected - the consequences range from no heat on a cold night to expensive component damage that could have been prevented with routine maintenance.
Most shops will tell you one of three things: "We don't work on those," "You need to send it to the factory," or they'll guess and replace parts until something works.
We don't guess. We're factory trained on these systems and diagnose them properly the first time.
Service Schedule - What Your Aqua-Hot Actually Needs:
Monthly (Owner Responsibility):
- Check coolant level in expansion tank when system is at operating temperature
- Run the diesel burner for a full 20-minute cycle minimum to prevent fuel system issues and carbon buildup
- Systems that sit unused develop gummed-up fuel systems and seized components
Annual Service (Professional Service Required):
- Replace fuel nozzle
- Replace fuel filter
- Clean or replace photocell (flame sensor)
- Inspect and adjust ignition electrodes
- Clean combustion chamber of carbon and soot buildup
- Inspect all fuel line connections
- Test antifreeze concentration with refractometer
- Inspect mixing valve for scale buildup
- Test circulation pumps
- Verify zone valve operation
- Check all electrical connections
- Test high-limit safety switches
- System operational test
Every 500 Hours or Annually (whichever comes first):
- Complete burner tune-up
- Nozzle and filter replacement
- Full system diagnostic
As Needed:
- Antifreeze flush and replacement (when degraded or contaminated)
- Winterization before storage
- De-winterization and system purge in spring
What Happens When Service Is Neglected:
We see the same failures every year from owners who skipped maintenance or had unqualified shops work on their systems:
Carbon buildup from skipped service - The burner develops soot that degrades combustion efficiency and eventually causes ignition lockout. What should have been a simple annual service becomes a full combustion chamber cleaning and component replacement.
Clogged fuel nozzles - The nozzle atomizes fuel for proper combustion. When it clogs, you get black sooty exhaust, incomplete combustion, and eventual ignition failure.
Degraded antifreeze - Boiler antifreeze loses its thermal transfer efficiency and protective properties over time. Old antifreeze causes poor heating performance and can damage internal components.
Seized circulation pumps - Systems that sit unused for months develop seized pumps and stuck zone valves. Running the system monthly prevents this.
Gelled fuel - Diesel fuel in the lines can gel in cold temps or degrade during storage, blocking the filter and preventing ignition.

Common Problems We Fix:
Burner won't ignite or stay lit - Usually fuel delivery, igniter, or flame sensor issues. We diagnose before we replace.
No hot water but heat works - Often a mixing valve or thermostat issue, not a full system failure.
Circulation pump failures - We stock common replacement pumps and can often repair same-day.
Error codes and lockouts - We have the diagnostic tools to read codes and pinpoint the actual failure, not just clear codes and hope.
System running but not heating - Could be low fluid, air in the lines, degraded antifreeze, or zone valve problems. We pressure test and bleed systems properly.
Winterization damage - Cracked heat exchangers and damaged tanks from improper winterization. We see this every spring.
Black sooty exhaust - Incomplete combustion from clogged nozzle or improper air adjustment. Left unaddressed, this causes heavy carbon buildup and ignition failure.
System trips after 2-4 hours - Often a high-limit thermostat, failing sensor, or intermittent electrical issue. Requires proper diagnosis, not parts swapping.
What To Expect:
We diagnose the actual problem before recommending repairs. Aqua-Hot systems are expensive and we're not going to sell you a new burner assembly when you need a $40 sensor. Every repair is inspected by an RVTI Level 4 Master Technician before your rig leaves.
If your system needs parts we don't stock, we'll give you an honest timeline. These aren't parts you pick up at the local auto store.
