HWH Hydraulic Leveling & Slide-Out Repair - Certified Service Center

Your HWH hydraulic system isn't something most RV shops understand. These systems integrate hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, electronic controls, and sensors into precision leveling and room extension systems that require factory training to diagnose and repair correctly. 3R RV Service Center is HWH Certified to service all models - and we've been doing it for over 20 years.

Why Your HWH System Needs Professional Service:

HWH systems are not simple jacks with a switch. They're engineered hydraulic platforms with electronic leveling controls, multiple valve bodies, precision cylinders, and computerized auto-leveling logic. The hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic components all work together - when one element fails or drifts out of spec, the entire system behaves unpredictably.

Most shops will tell you one of three things: "We don't work on hydraulics," "Call HWH," or they'll start replacing expensive components hoping something fixes it.

We don't guess. We're factory trained on these systems and diagnose them properly the first time.

Service Schedule - What Your HWH System Actually Needs:

Monthly (Owner Responsibility): Check hydraulic fluid level in reservoir. Inspect jack pads and cylinder shafts for damage. Cycle slides fully in and out to keep seals lubricated. Verify all jacks extend and retract smoothly.

Annual Service (Professional Service Required): Check and top off hydraulic fluid. Inspect all hydraulic lines and fittings for leaks. Inspect cylinder seals and shaft condition. Check jack pad condition and mounting hardware. Verify leveling sensor calibration. Test all solenoid valves for proper operation. Inspect wiring and connections. Test control panel functions. Cycle system through full operation and verify auto-level accuracy.

Every 2-3 Years: Hydraulic fluid flush and replacement. Full system pressure test. Valve body inspection and cleaning. Cylinder seal inspection. Complete electrical system diagnostic.

As Needed: Cylinder rebuild or replacement. Seal replacement. Valve body rebuild. Control panel replacement or repair. Leveling sensor replacement and calibration. Hydraulic line replacement.

What Happens When Service Is Neglected:

We see the same failures every year from owners who skipped maintenance or had unqualified shops work on their systems:

Contaminated hydraulic fluid - Fluid breaks down over time and moisture intrusion causes internal corrosion. Dirty fluid damages pump seals, valve bodies, and cylinder seals. What should have been a fluid change becomes a full system rebuild.

Blown cylinder seals - Cylinders that sit retracted for months develop dried seals that blow out on first use. We see this every spring from coaches that wintered without being cycled.

Stuck or slow jacks - Contaminated valve bodies, weak pumps, or restricted lines cause uneven or slow operation. Left unaddressed, this leads to pump burnout.

Leveling sensor drift - Sensors go out of calibration over time. The system thinks it's level when it's not, or won't auto-level correctly. Requires proper recalibration, not just sensor replacement.

Electrical failures - Corroded connections, damaged wiring, and failed solenoids cause intermittent operation or complete system failure. We trace circuits properly instead of throwing parts at it.

Slide-out failures - Stuck slides, uneven extension, seal damage, and structural stress from improper operation. Often caused by running slides with low fluid or weak batteries.

Pump failures - Pumps that run continuously trying to overcome internal leaks eventually burn out. Catching the leak early saves the pump.

Controller failures - Water intrusion, voltage spikes, and age cause control panel and logic board failures. We diagnose before recommending replacement.

Common Problems We Fix:

System won't operate at all - Could be low fluid, electrical fault, pump failure, or controller issue. We diagnose the actual cause before replacing parts.

Jacks extend but won't retract (or vice versa) - Usually a valve body issue, stuck solenoid, or electrical problem. Requires hydraulic and electrical diagnosis.

System operates slowly or unevenly - Low fluid, contaminated fluid, weak pump, or restricted lines. We pressure test to find the restriction.

Auto-level won't work or levels incorrectly - Sensor calibration, sensor failure, or controller logic issue. We recalibrate to factory specs.

Hydraulic fluid leaks - Could be cylinder seals, line fittings, valve body, or pump seals. We find the actual leak source before recommending repairs.

Slide won't extend or retract fully - Hydraulic issue, mechanical binding, structural problem, or controller fault. Requires proper diagnosis.

Slide moves unevenly or cocks to one side - Often a cylinder issue, guide problem, or one side binding. Can cause structural damage if forced.

Warning lights or error codes - We have factory diagnostic capability to interpret HWH fault codes and pinpoint failures.

System runs continuously - Internal leak in valve body or cylinder allowing fluid bypass. Pump runs trying to maintain pressure until it burns out.

Jacks creep down overnight - Internal seal leakage in cylinders or valve body. System loses pressure slowly and coach settles.

Interlock won't release - Ignition interlock, park brake switch, or controller fault preventing operation. Safety system diagnosis required.

What To Expect:

We diagnose the actual problem before recommending repairs. HWH systems are expensive and we're not going to sell you a new valve body when you need a $50 solenoid coil. Every repair is inspected by an RVTI Level 4 Master Technician before your rig leaves.

If your system needs parts we don't stock, we'll give you an honest timeline. HWH keeps most parts available, but some legacy components require longer lead times.
